Who I Am

About

Hello! I am Silvia Herrero

I am a nursing graduate from the University of Vigo and an expert in educational guidance for people with diabetes. Speaking from the heart of a nurse, I can tell you that I am passionate about people.

I firmly believe in their capacity for resilience, learning and transformation.

I'm a person shaped by a multitude of experiences and decisions…

And becoming a nurse was one of the best decisions of my life. For me, it marked a turning point in how I understand life. Even in school, I was passionate about any topic related to human health and how we function on a bio-psycho-social level. But through nursing, I learned that to care for others, we must care for ourselves first: Invest in your self-care to make an impact on those around you..

Since I was a child, I have always been reflective and introspective, yet fueled by an inner fire of curiosity to keep learning, improving, and moving forward. Existential themes fascinated me, so at home, I never stopped asking "Why?". But the real challenge lay within me. As Plato said, "Know thyself." Know yourself first, so you know how to care for yourself later..

I am from Galicia, but I consider myself a citizen of the world. That is how my professional nursing journey began in the United Kingdom 10 years ago. There, I had the opportunity to work with great multidisciplinary teams, and English became my second language for connecting with people. Living abroad definitely taught me not just the importance of words and communication, but also that listening is essential. I love listening to you and hearing everything you have to share so we can team up and I can support you on your journey.

After 5 years in the UK, I decided to make a change. I have dedicated the last three years of my life to contributing to the improvement of quality of life for people with diabetes. I worked as a technical consultant at a multinational company, Medtronic, to bring technology closer to people with diabetes, a condition that affects 1 in 7 people in Spain More than 15% of the population.

For this reason, my commitment is to go further and offer a more integrative approach in service of those living with diabetes, helping them achieve their health and well-being goals in a more sustainable and gentle way through personalized guidance based on the different levels of self-care. I am grateful to have discovered that I love educating and, above all, accompanying others as they rise from difficult moments to regain their health and autonomy.

Hello! I am a nurse, graduated from the University of Vigo, and an expert in diabetes educational guidance. I have international experience, having worked for 5 years in the United Kingdom and subsequently as a technical consultant at Medtronic to bring technology closer to people with diabetes.

My approach combines my clinical training (Expert in Diabetes, Master's in NLP, Health Coaching) with a deep passion for listening to and accompanying people so they can recover their autonomy and health.

It means shifting from a state where "diabetes leads you" to one where you make the decisions about who you want to be. It involves challenging yourself, empowering yourself, and gaining autonomy and freedom. Leading means ceasing to be a passive patient and becoming the protagonist of your health, making decisions with confidence, clarity, and responsibility.

This guidance is for anyone seeking a holistic transformation in their health and wishing to lead their life. Specifically, it is designed for:

  • People newly diagnosed with T1D or those already optimizing their Type 1 Diabetes.
  • People with Prediabetes and T2D.
  • Families and caregivers living with diabetes.
  • Those facing major life changes (marriage, job change), stress, emotional burnout, or those wishing to improve their relationship with food.
  • Healthcare professionals and companies seeking to improve well-being and care.

It is an integrative methodology born from combining Teleological Coaching, Functional Medicine, and Therapeutic Education. It focuses not only on numbers but on the person's bio-individual health, encompassing the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects.

The method seeks to clear your path, activate your internal resources, and create new, sustainable, long-term healthy habits. While it is not magic, it is defined as transformative.

The benefits are comprehensive and divided into several areas:

  • Physical: Reduction of HbA1c, improved Time in Range, reduced insulin resistance, weight loss, and better sleep quality.
  • Mental: Greater clarity in decision-making, reduced glycemic variability, and understanding of your patterns to stay ahead.
  • Emotional: Reduction of fear, anxiety, and stress, as well as improved self-esteem and personal and professional relationships.
  • Spiritual: Living with purpose, gaining autonomy, and achieving harmony between diabetes and personal life.

No, it is not psychological therapy, but it is a therapeutic process. It is an intervention methodology that uses positive psychology and coaching tools to foster self-knowledge, maturity, and proactivity. The goal is not just glycemic control, but discovering your potential to lead your self-care and face challenges with resilience.

Definitely, it is one of the central objectives. The method seeks to optimize your Glycated Hemoglobin (HbA1c) and improve your Time in Range. Additionally, it focuses on reducing glycemic variability and insulin resistance. However, these numerical results are the natural consequence of integral care that encompasses the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual—not the sole goal.
